Jayalalithaa takes charge as Tamil Nadu chief minister for sixth time.
AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa was on Monday sworn in as Tamil Nadu chief minister for a historic second consecutive term, after her mentor M G Ramachandran set the record in 1984.
Top political leaders, film stars and industrialists were in attendance as 68-year-old Jayalalithaa took over the reins of the state for the sixth time.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the centenary hall of the University of Madras. Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy.
Her 28 cabinet colleagues, including former chief minister O Panneerselvam were also sworn in.
